SERMON DISCUSSION GUIDE

THIS WEEK’S KEY PASSAGE:   Acts 3:1-26

REMINDERS

Sunday Nights at Magnify
Connecting the Sunday morning worship through the week can be challenging. But Sunday nights at the church are a great way to bridge the two together! Whether it’s hearing from our Missional Local and Global Partners, attending a class or serving with our kids and students, there are so many ways you can connect, serve, and grow with God’s people here to get you ready for the week ahead.
Every human being is made for connection and we are glad that you are here!

At Magnify we hope to be in relationship with each other one-on-one, in small groups, and corporately. Being willing to be known and to know others is a vital part of our discipleship. Our hope is that each person connected to Magnify feels known, seen, and loved.

Please follow the link below to submit your contact refresh, or stop by the Connect Desk in the atrium at your campus on October 4 or 11 to fill out a Contact Refresh Card and get your picture taken.

Circle Up  – Oct 25, between 1st and 2nd service (approx. 10:15a – 10:45a)

This one is especially good for those of us who have been connected in with groups for a while…
This is a time for everyone in our church to have space to get to know a few new names or perhaps catch up with someone you haven’t talked to in a while. Circle Up is our opportunity to help gather the body for coffee, snacks, and good fellowship in between services.
No need to sign-up, just bring a dish to pass and a smile to share!

You can keep up with all our current news and events through our online bulletin.

See the events page on the website for more updates.

TOGETHER IN LIFE

Feeling “seen” can be a powerful experience, sometimes good, sometimes bad. Share a time when you felt noticed in a significant way. Was it embarrassing or life-giving?

TOGETHER IN THE WORD

READ ALOUD:  Acts 3:1-26

KEY QUESTION:  What does the power of Jesus enable us to do?

QUESTIONS:

  • In this story, how is the idea of “sight” used?
  • Describe God’s power. In what ways is it on display here?
  • How would you describe God’s love?
    • In what ways do you see it in this passage?
  • What is the proper response to demonstrations of God’s love?
    • What does this look like in your life?
  • Is there anyone in your life that you treat as invisible?
    • What might it look like to demonstrate God’s love to them?
  • Have you ever felt invisible, unseen, or unloved by God? Why?
    • Do you struggle with that now?
  • What reminders do you have in your life that reassure you of God’s love for you in the midst of pain?

TOGETHER IN PRAYER & ACTION

If you are at all feeling convicting of hard-heartedness, confess that to the group and know that Jesus stands ready to forgive. Pray for one another, that you would all be tender-hearted to those who are most often overlooked. Remember the hope we have in Christ, that the Author of Life will one day come and restore all things, including whatever is weighing you down now.

  • Who is one person you need to see and love with true compassion?
  • Who is one person you need to share the hope and power of Jesus with?
