TOGETHER IN LIFE
Thanks to modern conveniences, life doesn’t have to end when the sun goes down. Share an adventure you had after dark. How did the darkness affect the situation?
TOGETHER IN THE WORD
Read Ephesians 5:7–14 aloud together.
KEY QUESTION: How am I doing at walking in the light?
QUESTIONS
- How would you define this kind of darkness and light in your own words?
- What’s one example of what moving from darkness to light has meant in your own life?
- What are some areas where you’re tempted to partner with “sons of disobedience”?
- Share a recent time when you had to discern what would please God in a gray area of life. How did you sort things out?
- Which need are you feeling most right now: to come back to the light, to call others to the light, or to make sure you’re walking in the light by letting others into a situation?
TOGETHER IN PRAYER & ACTION
- Pray for one another over anything shared today. Remember there is healing in repentance, confession, and forgiveness. We owe grace to one another because of the grace Christ showed us.
- Pray for discernment in life and relationships, that our lives would be pleasing to God.
- Share with one another the next step you’re emphasizing this week: (1) remember your story of walking from darkness to light, (2) exercise daily discernment on what is pleasing to the Lord, and (3) step into light by choosing a specific sin to bring into the light of God’s love and forgiveness.
