Trunk or Treat at Northview

Join us on Wednesday, October 29th for a night of treats and fun for the whole family! Enjoy decorated trunks, plenty of candy, and a safe place to celebrate together. If you’d like to dress up, please wear family-friendly costumes. Invite your friends and neighbors. See the events section on the website for more information.

Family Connect

Young families (with or without kids) are invited to join us on the first Sunday of each month following the first service for about 30 minutes in the Student Center to catch up with families you know, and connect with families you haven’t yet met! This is a great space for kids to run around, have fun and enjoy a light snack. If you are in a different stage of life, for example, a grandparent, we would love for you to come too! What a great gift for the different generations to do life together! See the events section on the website for more information.

TOGETHER IN THE WORD

Read Ephesians 2:11-22 aloud together.

QUESTIONS

  • Don shared a story written by Robert Louis Stevenson where 2 sisters lived
together in a one room apartment but had a falling out and never spoke to each
other again. They went so far as to draw a chalk line dividing the apartment in
two.Where is the chalk line in your life?

Can you think of a few people in your life where you have had a fallout and have
    not reconciled?

  • What are the words used in verses 11 and 12 which emphasize the separation of
the Gentiles and the Israelites? Has there been a time in your life when you
have felt excluded or without hope or had a relationship that felt this way?
  • Ephesians 2:14 references the barrier of the dividing wall which is an allusion to
the wall in the temple that divided the Court of the Gentiles from the Court of the
Jews. Christ is our peace that broke down this wall and made both groups one.
What does this reconciliation suggest? Does it mean that the Gentiles will now
live like Jews or that vice versa, the Jews will live like Gentiles? Does it look like
    something else?
  • Where’s Your Line? Classism, Politics, Racism, Sexism, Stage-of-Life-Ism,
    something else?
  • Don shared that there is a tension between what happens in life and drawing a
line. Do you quickly run to boundaries? How do you feel in these situations?
What are you willing and able for God to do? Will you do it by yourself or with
    the help of God?
  • How do you feel when you read in vs. 17 that Christ preached Peace to both
those that were far away and those that were near? How does this help you view
others and your relationship with them?

TOGETHER IN ACTION

Read again Ephesians 2:19-22. As you reflect on these verses, ask yourself, “What
chalk line in your life do you need to cross?” Ask God to help you be willing and
able to take this step with his help!
