TOGETHER IN LIFE

  • Who is a married couple you really admire? What about their marriage do you think helps them be noteworthy and admirable?

TOGETHER IN THE WORD

When you think about marriage and the roles of husbands and wives, what emotions or thoughts come to mind?

Read Ephesians 5:1-7

  • Look in your Bible. Is verse 21 at the end of the last paragraph or at the beginning of the passage? Does it make a difference in how you interpret the passage?
  • Read the passage in the NLT. Thoughts?

THE JESUS ROLE

Key Question: How has my physical, financial, spiritual, and emotional life been impacted by culture?

  • “The goal in marriage is to move toward holiness, not necessarily happiness.”
  • What is a consistent sin pattern in your marriage/life?
  • “Core lies tell me that I must never ______, and/or that I must always ______.”
  • What is the impact of core lies in relating to your spouse/others?
  • What does it look like when Jesus is the source of your security and significance, rather than your spouse/friends/children?
  • What makes you feel loved?
  • Compare how we are more sinful than we can imagine and how we are more loved than we can imagine.

IN PRAYER & ACTION

  • Pray that the Lord would protect the hearts and marriages of your church family.
  • Ask one another how you can support each other in the marital health of your group.
