TOGETHER IN LIFE

Share about different ways you enjoy relaxing or having fun in the Winter months.

What are some of your favorite winter past times?

What is one way you enjoy winter that you wish other people did more of, too?

TOGETHER IN THE WORD

Read Ephesians 5:15-20 aloud together.

KEY QUESTION: What do I tend to depend on to bring relief, comfort, or security in my daily life? What does this say about my relationship with God?

QUESTIONS

  • Paul encourages us to be careful how we live, “not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.” What gets in the way when it comes to making the most of every opportunity and living wisely?
  • How much time to you spend daily on your devices apart from your work? This includes your phone, iPad, tablet, laptop, desktop.
  • What do your addictions—food, busyness, social media, etc.—say about your core lies?
  • What controls you? Where or how do you spend the most time?
  • What can you do to buy back your time, to spend your time wisely as Paul suggests? Do you have specific steps you can take? Things you can give up?
  • What can you fast from in order to instead focus more on God?
  • What does “sing and make music from your heart to the Lord” look like in your life? How can you do more of this?

TOGETHER IN PRAYER & ACTION

  • Don talked about spending time outside as a way to refocus. When is the last time you spent significant time outside? Set aside time to take a walk, go sledding or skiing, or just turn your face to the sun.
  • Pray for the Spirit to search your heart and show you anything that you are depending on more than Christ.
  • Pray for the courage, will, and strength to put to death the things that distract you from living for Him.
  • Go and take steps to remove those things from your life.
