TOGETHER IN LIFE

What’s the silliest thing you remember ever complaining about? What prompted it and how did it go?

TOGETHER IN THE WORD

Read Matthew 7:1–5 aloud together.

KEY QUESTION: How can I be free of judgmentalism and judge in a right and helpful way?

QUESTIONS

  • What are some key differences between good judgment and bad judgment (judgmentalism)?
  • Over the past month, how would you rate your thought life when it comes to judgmentalism? How often do critical thoughts come to mind? What do you do with them? How many have you spoken out loud?
  • If you’re able, share a time when you were hurt by judgmentalism or criticism. How did you overcome that hurt?
  • How does your experience being hurt impact the way you approach others? Do you tend to reach for the chainsaw, the old rusty knife, or the tissue?
  • Is there anything holding you back right now from speaking the truth in love to someone who needs it? How might God want to address that?

TOGETHER IN PRAYER & ACTION

  • Pray for one another that God would help you see the planks still in your own eyes that prevent you from helping others.
  • Invite others to help you see your blind spots so you can grow in maturity.
  • Pray for those who need to hear the truth, and that God would give you the wisdom and compassion to share it faithfully.
