TOGETHER IN LIFE
This morning Steve shared how everyone has their “thing” they LOVE talking about. For some it’s sports or the weather, for others it could be friends and family, vacations, or games.
What is a topic that you love talking about and why do you think you love talking about it?
TOGETHER IN THE WORD
Read 1 Peter 3 aloud together.
KEY QUESTION: What do you put your hope in to help you face your challenges today?
QUESTIONS
- What is 1 Peter 3:15 all about?
- What “hope” is Peter referring to here (for more, see: 1 Peter 1:3-9)?
- What topics does Peter cover in 1 Peter 3?
- In what ways do each of these relate to the hope we have in Jesus?
- In what things do some people put their hope in outside of Jesus?
- Why is this a problem? What problems may occur because of this?
- Are there situations or relationships where you struggle to maintain hope? If so, why?
- Think through these things and finish this sentence: “I hope that…”
- What has God done in your life that gave you hope?
- In what ways can you be reminded from this experience about the future hope you can have in His provision for you?
TOGETHER IN PRAYER & ACTION
One of the primary tactics of our Enemy is to get us to lose hope. When we don’t remember the Goodness of God, His Promises, and His character of faithfulness, we can drift away from hope in His redemption and focus our Hope on lesser things. Resist the temptation to put your hope in temporary, circumstantial fulfillment – we are not promised tomorrow (Matt. 6:27, James 4:13-17) – but we ARE promised the provision of a living hope that in spite of our circumstances, God will be with us (Matt. 28:20, Joshua 1:7-10) and that He will one day make all things will be made new (Rev. 22).
If you want to talk with someone about the hope you feel is missing, please reach out to us. We want to listen, pray, and talk with you. You are not alone – we are here to help.
Pray for one another’s struggles with Hope. Take time this week to reach out and check in with one another. Commit to praying for 1-2 people in your group every day this week.
