As Christians, it’s important for us to know what we believe.
It’s also important for us to grow in our understanding of how this relates to life’s biggest questions…
What is the meaning of life?
Where are we going?
Is there a ‘higher power’?
In this series, we will draw on topics from the late, great Tim Keller’s book, Making Sense of God to get a more clear understanding of the Christian worldview and how it addresses the values and assumptions of our modern world.
Our goal in this series is to train men to think more like Christ in their everyday lives. We will not be reading the book together for weekly study, but you can purchase it here on your own if you’d like to go deeper into each of the topics.

The Study
Keller’s book is geared toward intellectual skeptics who are looking for answers to some heady questions about the differences between Christian faith and secular belief.
Our study is geared toward Christian men who want to better understand the Christian worldview in light of Keller’s work. We’ve taken time as a team to work through his content, pull out key insights, and assemble it in such a way that makes sense for our group time.
The goals of this study are:
- Better understand our worldview as Christians in light of secular beliefs
- Help men develop a better radar for “the question behind the question”.
- Give our minds some exercise to grow in understanding the way the world outside of Christianity views different issues such as meaning, purpose, identity, etc.
Handouts
We will have some handouts for you to begin the series so you can follow along with notes, think through some of the questions ahead of time, and come to group prepared the next week to dive deep.
These will be posted here on the Men’s Blog for your reference, if you miss a week.
Teaching
The bulk of our teaching will be handled on our podcast, Men at Magnify Extra Mile Podcast. Each episode is about an hour long. Feel free to break up the episode into chunks or listen as you drive.
In the podcast, Trent and Josh aim to help familiarize men with the topic of the week. The best way to work through it would be 1 episode a week, leading up to the next week’s group meeting. For example: listen to Week 1’s episode before Week 1’s group gathering.
You can find the podcast through Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Subsplash on our men’s page. Or just google it.
