Leader Appreciation Gathering
Each year in May we want to slow down and take time to connect and celebrate our group leaders. Please join us for our annual Leader Appreciation Dinner on May 7, 6-8pm at The Barn (5330 Kies Rd, Rockford, MI 49341). We’ll enjoy a great meal, good conversation, and pray for and with one another. It’s always a good time shared with great people!

TOGETHER IN LIFE
What is the farthest you’ve ever travelled and why? How different was it from home?
TOGETHER IN THE WORD
THIS WEEK’S KEY PASSAGE: Luke 17:11–19
Note: If you are meeting as a group, we encourage you to read the text together out loud.
KEY QUESTION:
- Is your heart marked by gratitude?
GOING DEEPER:
Ten Lepers Healed
Ten men were brought together by the disease of leprosy, which was terribly contagious and destructive. It required them to live apart from everyone else. They begged Jesus for mercy, and He sent them to the priest, and while they were on their way, they were cleansed.
QUESTIONS
- What are some of your favorite stories about Jesus and why?
- If you had been a leper in those days, what do you think would have been the hardest part for you?
- Have you ever seen God do a miracle? What was that like?
Only One Returned
Even though ten people had their lives radically changed for the better, only one returned to give Jesus thanks. What’s more, it was the person they might have expected least: a Samaritan (who typically hated the Jews and were hated by them).
QUESTIONS
- Have you ever failed to thank someone for something significant? If you’re able, share that story. Why didn’t you say “thank you”?
- Is there anything in your life right now that you struggle to be grateful for? Why do you think that is?
- Read James 1:17 and Ephesians 5:4. Are there any other verses you like about being grateful? How has God used these verses to help shape your perspective?
Humility
Gratitude grows in the soil of humility, and the one who returned to give thanks humbled himself before Jesus. While you would think having leprosy would be enough to humble you, it would seem there was no evidence of humility in the lives of the other nine.
QUESTIONS
- Why might gratitude grow with humility? What does humility contribute?
- Share a time when God humbled you. What were some of the good results that came from that?
- How can you cultivate more humility and gratitude in your life right now?
TOGETHER IN ACTION
Choose one thing that don’t normally thank God for, and thank Him for it each day this week.
TOGETHER IN PRAYER
Spend an extended time of prayer thanking God for His good gifts and for who He is. Write down some of the things others are thankful for and try thanking God for those throughout the week, too. It is good to rejoice with those who rejoice. Above all, remember that every other gift pales in comparison to the gift of salvation we have by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It is the gift of eternal life with our loving maker, and puts every other gift in perspective.
