PARENT CONNECT – TECHNOLOGY (Sunday, March 23 6:00pm-7:00pm – Rockford Campus) Your phone, your family, and your heart. Join us for a conversation on the significant role technology plays in shaping our lives and our call to be active disciples of it in our families.
This is a conversation for our whole community. If you know someone who doesn’t attend Magnify that would benefit from this conversation, reach out and invite them to join you! Programming for birth – High School is offered both nights.
TECH EXPO: On March 23 from 5-5:45pm, check out our tech expo and grab a walking taco in the Auditorium. It’s a time for the whole family to visit different stations and get answers, ideas, tips, and fun facts regarding technology use in the family and home.
TOGETHER IN LIFE
This week’s sermon had a lot to say about money, resources, and time.
What do you enjoy spending your money on?
What do you enjoy spending your time on?
What do you enjoy spending your talents on?
TOGETHER IN THE WORD
THIS WEEK’S KEY PASSAGE: Luke 16:1-18
Note: If you are meeting as a group, we encourage you to read the text together out loud.
KEY QUESTION:
- What gift do you have that God would be pleased to use here at Magnify Church?
GOING DEEPER:
The purpose of these questions is to promote in depth discussion. Don’t feel obligated to answer all of them.
QUESTIONS:
Don opened his teaching time by saying this text was “most perplexing.” How so?
Wealth and how it is managed is at the core of this teaching. Don quoted several contributors who he asked these following questions. How would you answer?
How do you disrupt the invasive money obsession by giving?
How does giving help you get out of the accumulation rut?
How do you get creative in giving? What helps?
Regarding the dishonest manager, the comment was made “faithfulness to God starts in the real world.” How so?
Words such as “accumulation,” “redistribution,” and “the Jubilee Example” were part of our teaching. How do you tie them together? How do they play out in the NT Church? (Leviticus 25 gives instruction on the Sabbath Year, the Year of Jubilee, and the redemption of property, the poor and the enslaved.)
Read Luke 16:18. This seems out of place. How does fit in Jesus’ teaching?
We celebrated communion this Sunday. Do you prepare for communion before partaking of the elements? If so, how?
TOGETHER IN ACTION
In what ways were you challenged to give of your time, talent, or treasure?
How can this group help you take the next step to doing that? How can they hold you accountable to do this?
TOGETHER IN PRAYER
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Heb. 10:24-25)
Pray for one another that God’s Spirit would be working in you and those in your group to encourage one another in the ways you can Worship, Learn, Relate, Serve, Give and Reach.
