Wild Wednesday: 2 WILD summer nights for kids entering Grades 3 & 4. Join us for crazy fun, swimming, water games, snacks, friends and learning about our great God. This summer our focus is on the Double Love Command to love God and love others taught by Jesus taught in Matthew 22:37-39.

GLOBAL PARTNERS AROUND THE WORLD
Mel Boerema – Piikani Lighthouse – Canada
We have had 8 people baptized recently in our church. One of them is a 30 year old woman that Sally (Mel’s wife who passed away) was discipling since before Covid. The man she has her 4 children with came to Christ first, and the change in him caused her to come to church. One Sunday after the morning service he proposed to her at the front of the church. They were married during Covid and are now active in the work of Piikani Lighthouse in charge of youth outreach. They have a gym night once a week for youth 8 to 16, and this weekend they took a few youth on a golf outing.
People baptized here have a lot more stress than someone who comes from a baptist family/tradition. It is a public display of faith and obedience to Jesus Christ and can be seen as rejection of traditional religion and culture. Often, family will shun those who are baptized and though invited to the event, will not come. It takes about a year of observation before family accept those who have been baptized and start asking the person who has made the public display of faith to pray for family members facing difficult times.
Our big event for July is Pastor Doug and Laura’s camp meeting. We will be putting up a big tent on Monday and services will start on Thursday night and go through Sunday night.
July is also the beginning of our camp season. Camp Nookoowai (Blackfoot for “My home”) is a First Nations Christian Camp that our church has been involved with and the majority of the kids will come from our community. Life is good in the service of the Lord.
