TOGETHER IN LIFE

To begin the service, we sung “All Hail King Jesus”and the praises of our Lord.

What are some ways that you enjoy worshipping the Lord? Singing? Playing Music? Prayer? Walking through the woods?

What was one of the most powerful “worship moments” you can remember?

Remember: as we come together in group, we have the unique chance to be encouraged through other followers of Jesus in our WORSHIP.

TOGETHER IN THE WORD

Read Ephesians 4:1-6 aloud together. (SLIDES ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE SERMON HERE)

KEY QUESTION:    What does it look like to cling to HOPE in the face of daily life?

QUESTIONS

  • What stood out to you from the sermon?
  • We learned that in verse 2-3 the phrase “the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” means there is an unseen connection we have between brothers and sisters in Christ, which exists perfectly in God and flows out from the Holy Spirit to us. How does this help you understand God’s gifts to you in Christ?
  • Unity is not: (1) Conformity, (2) Agreement, and (3) Passivity.
    • What do these mean?
    • What are their opposites?
    • How does Unity help us remain bound together in the face of disagreement?

  • SEE IMAGE ABOVE: Which of these come more naturally to you? Which are more difficult? Why?
  • How does our ONE HOPE help us remained focus on maintaining a true unity of the bond of peace in Christ?
  • Hope is not the result of circumstantial relief – it is the power of Christ to overcome sin and the destructive power that separates us from God and each other. What does it look like to cling to HOPE in the face of daily life?

TOGETHER IN PRAYER & ACTION

  • Ask God to help you KNOW His love in deeper and deeper ways.
  • Exercise:
    • STEP 1: Use a pen/pencil and a piece of paper (that you will end up throwing away)
    • STEP 2: Pray through Psalm 139:23-24, that God would open your heart to honestly assess your thoughts and “grievous ways”.
    • STEP 3: Write out your sins and all the ways you feel like you are falling short. Take time to consider the pain you have caused and the struggles you wish you could move away from.
    • STEP 4: Use this as a moment of opportunity to assess yourself honestly and pray to confess these to God.
    • STEP 5: As you close in prayer discard the list, knowing that God – in Christ – forgives you and already destroyed your list on the cross.
    • STEP 6: Be reminded of the GREATNESS of God’s forgiveness of you as you reflect on His freedom for you as you “live worthy of the calling to which you have been called.”
  • Confess to someone you trust any lies that limit you from knowing God’s love.
  • Take time to let God’s love overwhelm you and respond to Him in worship.
